Lisa Nogueira is a Michigan Licensed as well as Nationally Certified Massage Therapist and a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach focusing on Holistic health and self care.  She graduated from the Cincinnati School of Medical Massage in 2008 and has been practicing massage ever since.  Lisa worked at the University of Michigan hospital from 2010-2013, where she performed massage treatments on hospital inpatients, outpatients, and staff with varying medical and massage needs while also working in the private sector as an employee of Tranquil Being from 2011-2014.  Lisa has blended her unique set of experience and certifications together to approach the person as a holistic way. In addition to offering massage, body work, and health coaching sessions, she helps people transition to clean eating and lifestyle.  She hosts clean eating and natural whole food detox groups as well as teaches meditation classes, hosts spa retreat nights , self care workshops and talks, sound and vibrational therapy events and more!  Lisa’s philosphy of health is that all parts of life are involved –the goal is harmony in the whole self.

Prior to being a massage therapist, Lisa’s background and education was in social work.  She spent 10 years working in the field, focusing primarily on at risk youth.  In addition to providing social services, mentoring, and education, she also instructed fitness classes, coached sports, and taught cooking classes, while independently studying various fitness methods, nutrition and natural healing. Massage was a natural evolution given her interests and commitment to helping people.

Lisa has been trained and has experience in a variety of modalities, and continues to expand her knowledge to find new ways to help her clients. Lisa is certified in Pregnancy massage (prenatal), Post natal massage, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. She has extensive training in Oncology Massage,  with over a 1000 hours of experience, both inpatient and outpatient and was certified through Beaumont Hospital’s Oncoclogy Massage Program.  In addition, she has training in Medical Massage, Scar Tissue Mobilization, East Indian Stone Massage, Myofascial Release, Reflexology Level 2, Sports Massage and Stretching, Infant Massage, Aromatherapy, Upledger Cranial Sacral, Deep Tissue, Swedish/Relaxation, Acupressure, Champissage (Indian head Massage), Kansa vatki foot treatment, Thai Herbal Poultice for face and body, body scrubs and wraps,  Gua sha, Hot Stone Massage, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).  She completed Phase 1 and  2 of the Soma Energetics Vibrational sound course. Lisa has completed the Master Level Reiki training and has studied various forms of meditation, with formal training in Mindfulness and Primordial Sound Meditation.  Lisa is also a member of the Society for Oncology Massage (S4OM).  Her most recent training was in massage cupping for body and face.

Her style of bodywork is an eclectic blend of her years of experience and education, using  a variety of techniques to help her clients achieve optimum health and harmony, and create a conducive environment for happiness.  She is passionate about being a guide in the healing process.  She integrates modalities outside of body work such as sound healing, meditation and emotional healing techniques to help clients reach a deeper sense of peace and help remove physical, emotional and energetic blocks that prevent people from healing.

Lisa’s heart is drawn to clients who want to make change happen by striving for health on a deeper level.  To her, it is not just about massage of muscles, it is about achieving balance as a WHOLE person, mending and moving through emotional damage or loss, ending self criticism,  reconnecting with the body, nurturing self love and acceptance, and developing daily practices that nourish the spirit.  This is the essence of mind, body, spirit philosophy and Lisa’s passion.

Since her experience working at U of M hospital and extensive hospital and Oncology Massage training, much of Lisa’s clientele come to her with specific medical diagnoses, including cancer, Fibromyalgia, MS, brain injury, Parkinsons and various cardiac conditions.  Lisa helps her clients find relief of side effects from the illness itself or treatment, to relax, for pain relief, emotional benefits and a reconnection to their bodies.

On a personal note, Lisa loves deep belly laughs and making others laugh. She surrounds herself with people from all walks of life so that she can constantly learn and be challenged.  She thrives on time spent in nature, dancing and listening to music, being silly with her husband and son, and long talks with good friends.  She also delights in trying new foods, healthy living,  exploring new places and new ideas, and she considers herself a life long student.
